  • Everswick – April 2015 Prayer letter

    Dear Praying friends,

We would like to bring a few matters to your attention and ask you to stand with us in prayer.  We know many of you pray regulary with us and trust that with this brief memo you will direct some of your effort to the following:

    1. The denomination that grew out of the ministry of early TEAM missionaries is the Evangelical Church of Zimbabwe which has some 200 congregations.  The denomination is at a crisis point.  Simmering theological differences have strained the  church for a few years but a current leadership crisis has set the church on the brink of disaster.  The evil one is enjoying this.
      • Pray for God to work His good through this mess.  Reconciliation of brothers in Christ would certainly be our desire and request.
      • Please pray for me as I facilitate some initial interaction and discussion between the different leaders.
      • Pray that both parties would be open to seeking and able to find a godly and wise mediator to help them work through their differences.
    2. For the past year Erin and Kameron Toews have been committed to and preparing to spent their next year or two serving the Lord with us here in Zimbabwe.  They have their support but have been waiting month after month for their papers to be processed and their visa to be granted.  Delay has followed delay. Please pray for a breakthrough in this regard.  Pray for their visa to be granted in the next few weeks.
    3. This next weekend we will be taking a couple of days for a time of spiritual retreat as TEAMmates.  Pray that the Lord will meet with us and do whatever work He needs to do with us.
    4. On a more personal note:
      • We thank the Lord that our twin grandsons are doing well and growing.  If you would pray that they would sleep better I know Lindsey and David will be grateful.
      • Our daughter, Julianne, has just graduated as a Doctor of Physical Therapy.  Next week she will be arriving in Zimbabwe to spend a month with us.  God is so good.  Give thanks with us.
Once again we thank you for your continued prayer and support as we work in the Name of Jesus here in Zimbabwe.

    Doug and Nancy Everswick
    and Rachelle also.
