Allison in Uganda

It's an awesome  thing to see someone step outside their comfortable world and into the unknown. What is all the more amazing is that we get to walk with those who have ventured out because the globalization of communication makes it possible. check out Allison LaBianca's blog here

The bus ride from Jinja to Luwero was incredibly bumpy for a good portion of the ride but we arrived at dark Monday night. When the van pulled up to the house that I’ll be living in I was greeted again by some of the Ugandan girls live on sight. They were over for a bible study my roommate was having that night so they started helping unload all of my luggage and welcoming me. They greeted with big hugs and smiles, no hand shaking here…I love it!

I sat in on the bible study and got to know a few of the girls that were part of the Samuel Family Group that I’m connected with. Afterwards I went with my roommate down to the Samuel Family housing to visit a girl who was sick with Malaria. As we walked down I met several more people. Thankfully I’m good with names and was remembering most but I kept meeting more and more people and realized it was going to take a little more time to put all the names in the long term memory! I spent the rest of the night settling into my new room and house, unpacking all of my suitcases. After about 3 weeks, since leaving Phoenix, it feels great not living out of a suitcase!
